About English Division

The English Division of the Second Faculty of Medicine was established in 1993 at the Medical University of Warsaw for students interested in studying medicine in English.

The Division offers two programmes: a 6-year programme for high school graduates and a 4-year programme for college/university graduates. At the end of each program the graduates are awarded the MD degree and receive a medical diploma recognized in the European Union, USA, Canada and most other countries of the world (for precise information on diploma recognition in particular countries, consult appropriate legal acts).

Having completed the basic science part of the study programme, the students are eligible to sit for the USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Examination) Step I and for the USMLE Step II on completion of the clinical part of the programme.

Premed College

The Medical University of Warsaw Premed College offers a preparation programme for medical school prospective students.

Our Medical School Preparation Programme (MSPP) includes an intensiveEnglish language course and a Polish language course followed by biology, anatomy, physics and chemistry preparatory courses.

● Our one-year English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course provides intensive language teaching a week allowing students to improve their command of English to the level of proficiency required to be successful on the MD programme at the Medical University of Warsaw (IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 90 or CEFR B2). The course focuses on the four core skills (speaking, listening, reading, writing) and academic English as well as study skills for the IELTS (or equivalent) examination.

● Our Polish language course provides 4 hours of tuition per week and prepares students to communicate effectively in basic Polish. We also provide an integration programme.

● Our one-year courses in biology, anatomy, physics and chemistry prepare students to succeed in securing a place on the MD programme.

Courses are taught by our University's teachers and guest subject specialists from beyond the University.

Candidates who hold a diploma certifying their English language skills at B2 level according to CEFR (IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 90) are automatically enrolled for the second year of Premed College.

Preparatory School

The Medical University of Warsaw Preparatory School offers a preparation programme for candidates for studies in the English language.  As an alternative, participants can choose the Polish language programme, designed for those international students who need the Polish language for their future studies and career.

  • The 33-week intensive study programme encompasses over 800 hours of instruction, including general and academic English, language skills development (listening, speaking, reading and writing) and grammar instruction.
  • Being an IELTS venue, with its qualified instructors, the Preparatory School prepares students for this exam and gives them the opportunity to take the exam on-site.
  • Students’ progress is monitored with the use of tests, quizzes and mock exams, as well as their portfolio which they complete during the programme and which includes written assignments, individual vocabulary study and at least one presentation.
  • Clubs for extracurricular activities related to – among others – writing, speaking or grammar, provide extra knowledge and practice to those who want to revise difficult material or move ahead faster than the curriculum. Instructors can direct a student to attend a certain club, or even require the participation in its activities, if it is necessary for the students’ development.

Courses are taught by our University’s teachers, native speakers and certified instructors, awarded with CELTA.
